Moishe Alexander, Better Building – An estimated 2.1 million households in 10 major surveyed centres indicated they completed renovations last year according to the Renovation and Home Purchase Survey released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The average cost of renovations was approximately $12,100.

OTTAWA — For the second time in as many weeks, Canada’s major banks have hiked rates on fixed-term mortgages.
Most increased their three-, four- and five-year rates by 0.4 percentage points on Wednesday.
The move brought average posted rates on those mortgages to 4.55 per cent (three-year), 5.34 per cent (four-year) and 5.85 per cent (five-year).
